Friday Dog Blogging

Most of the bloggers I read celebrate their pets by posting silly photos and commentary on Fridays. So here we goes.

Say hi to my my new little buddy. He may be a ChiPin or Chihuahua/Mini Pincher mix. Approximately 3 months old. He was rescued by In Defense of Animals from a fishing dock in the Dominican Republic a little over two weeks ago. His name is "Doc" (of course).

Obama rally - Waterfront Park

I got really lucky this afternoon and got a ticket for the VIP section at todays Obama rally. That's me highlighted to the lower right of the photos (in the Oregonian and the NY Times no less). I was about 30 feet away for most of the speech. I got to shake Barack's hand and everything. Way fun and tons of people - estimated at 75,000. I also ended up standing next to Democratic Senate candidate Jeff Merkley and chatted with him a bit.

Bear installs Internet terminal in local biz

A couple of months ago a new sandwich shop, Robie's Deli & More (SE 65th and Foster Rd) opened up around the corner. Robie and her daughter have been providing hearty lunches and the occasional dinner for yours truly ever since. Well, in the interest of making sure my new favorite sandwich shop is a success, I've been helping out with some of their technology needs. Last month I provided a wireless access point and a signal boosting antenna. This afternoon I installed a computer terminal for public web access. When I have some more time, I'll build 'em a second machine. BTW - the sandwiches are inexpensive, delicious and HUGE!
